This structure (a castellated manor house rather than a castle proper) was built in 1912 by Clarence Cripplewort, a wealthy armaments manufacturer. The castle is on the edge of the steep Birdlip Hill, near Gloucester. It is screened from prominent sight by a large plantation of trees. Currently, the building is owned by a Japanese consortium, and is not open to the public.
